We will be celebrating our first baptisms during our worship service on March 12. We hope you can join us for this important event in the life of our church.
What Is Baptism?
In the Bible, we read the call to repent of sin, believe the gospel, and be baptized (Mark 1:14-15, Acts 2:38). Baptism is an outward symbol of inward heart-change (1 Peter 3:21). The action of going under the water and coming back up to the surface demonstrates our spiritual death and resurrection with Jesus (Romans 6:3-4, Colossians 2:12), which will one day become a physical reality (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18). Although baptism itself does not save us, it’s a special moment and a sweet reminder of the salvation we have through faith in Jesus. We only need to get baptized once in our lives (Ephesians 4:5-6). If you haven’t done so yet, we invite you to obey Jesus’ command to get baptized (Matthew 28:18-20).
How Can I Be Baptized?
At Cornerstone, we baptize anyone who repents of their sin and confesses faith in Jesus. We ask each candidate to: 1) attend one of our baptism classes, 2) meet with the Pastor, 3) write their faith-story, and 4) commit to attending and serving at Cornerstone for at least one year following their baptism. If you’re interested, please talk with the Pastor after the service to get started.
