On June 6, 1944, General Eisenhower issued his “Order of the Day” for the troops under his command. This order launched the Allied invasion of Normandy and the liberation of Europe from Nazi control in World War II. In Luke 10:1-20, Commander Jesus issues his order for the 72 disciples that are sent to go out before him. Jesus’ instructions are for all followers of Jesus, and while the mission may seem dangerous, the good news is that nothing can harm us. That’s because Jesus prepares his followers, to spread the good news, and receive God’s joy.
